I have this same issue. It seems to happen more often on certain hardware. But like you said earlier, you can restart the provisoning template again and it works fine. It is definitely not a problem with the image. The file is getting corrupted by LANDesk or sysprep somehow.
I just don't have the time to spend trying to figure this out.
