Re: Software Package failed

Hi there,

This could be something as simple as the installer waiting for input. The install needs to be completely silent. This is done by creating an .MSP file (used to be known as a transform file) with the Microsoft Office Customization Tool. This is done by running the Office "setup.exe" with the /admin switch.

In case you haven't done this, give this a try.

  • Unpack the office installation to your distribution share.
  • In your run line - [Run: \\path to install files\setup.exe /admin] This will launch the Microsoft Office Customization Tool
  • Go through the install options filling out the fields like "product Key" , accept the terms, display level..etc.
  • When you are done,  save and name the .MSP file that will be created.
  • Place the new .MSP file in the "Updates" folder of the Office Installation that is in the Distribution share.
    • Setup.exe looks in the updates folder for the .msp file. It will use the settings you provided with the Microsoft Office Customization Tool for the install
  • In your provisioning Template, for the install Office 2016 action, The  action type = "Execute File"
  • The Target path = the location of the Setup.exe for the office install

Nothing else is needed because setup.exe in conjunction with the answer.msp makes the install silent.
