Thanks for your thoughts on the above, Initially this problems was back in April/May this year, when I logged it, but I did manage to track down the Miniscan files which Ivanti requested as part of the diagnostics. While we did use those steps mentioned in the link, we also managed to get a copy of the Miniscan file from the machine prior to it sending from a command window (I can't remember the steps or I would include them here for you as well).
It appears that the serial number is actually missing from the Miniscan, which I guess also should have pointed me to the issue mentioned above a little earlier, thus having to take the steps mentioned in my post to resolve the problem.
I'll keep your thoughts on a scripting of the miniscan file for other situations that I may come across which do contain the serial number.
